Interview With Roxanne
Roxanne took time to answer questions from Mark Shaw of MSB Agency
Q) Describe your sound.
A) I would have to say that my sound is at the halfway mark of being named as unusual, but nice:) Okay...I'm just kidding here. Seriously, in my opinion, it is halfway between southern gospel/country and adult contemporary music. I usually inter mix familiar songs with the ones I have written.
Q) What are some of the themes your music conveys?
Q) What are some of the themes your music conveys?
A) Mercy. I love to sing about Mercy. And, since I write my own music, I have a tendency to focus on what God has done for me personally. Ballads are easy for me to write and generally lend to the style of music I perform. However, writing those snappy happy songs generate confidence to the audience in what I do believe in. Love singing those ones.
Q) Who is your primary audience?
Q) Who is your primary audience?
A) Primary audience is middle age adults to seniors. Yet, even in saying this, I have feedback that young children to pre-teens seem to like what I do. I get a kick out of the e-mails and feed back that I have received from listeners. Just the other day, someone told me, she had put my CD in her car to listen to. Her son, who is only 5, quite often puts up a fuss when he is driven in the car. He was in the back seat and was not looking forward to being in her car. However, when the music started to play, she told me he settled right down apparently he started to laugh...and he continued to laugh until they reached their destination. Kind of a cute little story. I enjoy making people smile. Wish I could have been there to capture that one in person.
Q) What do you think of Jesus?
Q) What do you think of Jesus?
A) I could write a novel on that question. I'll try to keep this short and sum up my deepest thoughts on this.
Jesus is everything to me. No one will ever really know the many times I have called upon him for help, except for myself. In times of great sorrow, and loss, when no one else was there for me, he was. And still is. During the happy mountain top experience's he still keeps pouring out his love on me. I know more than anyone else that I truly have not deserved it. He is the one person I can always depend. Truly, how does one really put into words the deep appreciation and love for someone like this? I guess the only thing I can think of is to keep dedicating my life daily to him. He deserves that much.
Q) Where do you live?

Q) Where do you live?
A) I currently reside in Peterborough, Ontario.
Q) What is your church background?
A) I was raised Pentecostal. Then in 2002, I became a member of the Free Methodist Church. Currently I attend a non denominational Christian Fellowship church. There I am the worship leader for Mercy of God Ministries. Love the name of this church. Once again....Mercy. One of my favourite words.
Q) If someone wants to pray for you, what should they pray about/for?
Q) If someone wants to pray for you, what should they pray about/for?
A) For My family. Traveling mercies. That I would go into the places God wants me to sing and deliver HIS message.
Q) Talk about your latest project. What is it called and why might someone like it?
A) It Was Your Cross.
I have to be honest, and say, that I have been blessed with all of my projects. I have had wonderful producers and the final product was never a disappointment.
However, that being said, Here is what I can comment on my latest project. Producer Andy Thompson left his signature of excellence on this last project. I was thrilled to have my own daughter Amanda Daw sing on this album as well as Hiram Joseph and others. It was Your Cross is a collection of material written about life, God and our salvation in him. When I wrote most of these songs, I was in a comfortable place in my life. During the actual recording of this CD, I went through many situations that caused me to almost quit singing. Through the grace of God, and these songs that I wrote, I kept going forward. The project literally kept me focused on Christ when I felt like giving it all up. Neat how God uses our gifts to keep us in the place we need to be!
One comment I have heard from people, is that this album is a soothing album exuding healing. I personally believe that is the holy spirit. Wow...how the Lord ever does that is beyond me. All we do as musical artists is offer our talents and he takes it, and He makes it shine. I would recommend this project as a witnessing tool for those who may never have heard the gospel before. The stories in the song present a presence of understanding and love towards the listener. People’s favorites seem to be the title track of the CD, It was Your Cross, I will dance, and Sing to the Lord.

Q) What's your favourite Bible verse?
A)This isn't a bible verse as per quote, however, my father wrote in my autograph book (given to me as a child) this version of the scripture below. The steps of a good girl are ordered by the Lord! I think I may have been about eight years of age. I got his point! So next to Dad's quotation of the bible, here is the scripture I cherish and hold close to my heart.
Proverbs 3:6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
